So, you’ve made it through the ‘big day’ which now feels like a blur of champagne sips, twirls and dips, and lots of laughter with family and friends. You’re ready to kick back, relax, and enjoy your time together as newlyweds. Amid the scenic archipelago of the South Pacific you’ll find the perfect destination: Fiji.

Why choose a Fiji honeymoon?

It’s a mere four-hour flight from Sydney, perfect as you lovebirds won’t want to keep your hands off each other any longer than that. It’s cheap, easy to get to, and the best part is you’ll arrive with no jet-lag, which means you can crack open that complimentary champagne without hesitation.

Fiji is a place of unrivalled natural beauty, a breathtaking backdrop for any honeymoon. Here, the colours are more vibrant, the waters warmer, and the sunsets more spectacular.

Activities for two: Stand-up paddling at the Qamea Resort, Fiji.

Its glassy emerald waters host an abundance of exotic marine life and colourful coral reefs that rise and fall to the rhythm of the slow and steady island beat.

It’s an ideal location for snorkelling enthusiasts but if diving is not your thing, there are lots of other activities to enjoy. Fiji truly caters to any couple.

For the thrill-seeking newlyweds, there are plenty of adrenaline-oriented experiences: fly through the sky on a zipline or speed up the Sigatoka River on a safari jet boat.

For the couples who are keen to beach and chill, you can spend your days on the white sandy beaches, basking in the island sun, sipping on cocktails and listening to the endless lapping of the South Pacific.

However you plan to spend your days in paradise, rest assured that you will be looked after. Fijian people are among the friendliest on Earth, they’re what make this place truly unique. They have a generous and warm spirit and will go above and beyond to show you a good time.

Where to stay in Fiji for a honeymoon

Viti Levu is the largest of the 332 Fijian islands. This is where you’ll find the main international airport Nadi (pronounced Nan-di) and a throng of luxurious resorts. It’s the most straightforward and easy to get to, if you’re after no-fuss transfers and minimal commutes.

If you want to get away from the mainland, check out the Coral Coast or Denarau – a resort island that’s just 20 minutes from the airport and home to a host of big-name, five-star hotels.

A little further out you’ll find the Kadavu and Yasawa Islands. Because they are a little off the beaten path (just another short flight from the Viti Levu), their rainforests are unspoilt and beaches unscathed. These off-the-beaten-track destinations are rich with Fijian culture, history and offer visitors a more authentic experience.

There are so many great Fiji honeymoon destinations across the various islands and deciding on one can be a little overwhelming. To help you out we’ve put together a list of our favourite Fiji honeymoon resorts, enjoy and happy planning!

The best Fiji honeymoon resorts (according to us!):

Tokoriki Island Resort

Let’s start with the fact that it’s adults-only, so you’ll have no kids around cramping the romance. This resort is located on Tokoriki Island, which is a 15-minute scenic flight from Nadi via seaplane or helicopter – now that’s an entrance.

The resort features 36 beachfront bures and luxury villas that are charming and traditional in style but have all the necessary mod cons and ooze sophistication.

The Pool Villas come with their own infinity-edge plunge pool, perfect for romantic dips and Instagram pics that’ll make your friends at home super jealous.

Tokoriki Island Resort is the current Trip Advisor #1 Resort for Romance, it delivers the peace and quiet that’s required for couples to really connect. Head here for a whole lot of calm and, of course, some cuddles.

Qamea Resort and Spa

Qamea Resort and Spa is located on a private island just off the coast of Taveuni. It’s a little more difficult to get to – you’ll need to take an 80-minute flight from Nadi, then it’s another 20-minute drive to the resort. But when you reach the island’s sugary white sand beach, you’ll realise it’s worth the effort.

Nestled among azure waters, verdant tropical gardens and swaying coconut palms, Qamea’s location and landscape is truly unique. Qamea caters to a maximum of 34 adults, which means you’re afforded a truly intimate experience. To the front, the resort has a kilometre-long private beach and at the rear, a lush tropical bushland and jagged volcanic mountainscape – all yours to enjoy without rowdy crowds.

The resort has a range of activities to keep guests entertained, from invigorating mountain hikes to catered picnic lunches alongside cascading jungle waterfalls.

For those homebody honeymooners who’d rather stay in, the luxe bungalows are just steps from the sand and contain everything you want and need including your own private Jacuzzi. We say ‘Yes, please!’

Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort

This charming resort is reminiscent of a traditional Fijian village with traditional-style bure bungalows and Talai butlers. Its stunning seaside setting provides sweeping views from the steep hilltops to the crystal-clear turquoise seas.

Upon arrival you’ll be greeted with a gracious ‘Bula’ welcome from the hotel staff and this generous hospitality will continue throughout your stay. At the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort, love (or ‘lolomas’ in Fijian) is most definitely in the air.

While it is a family-friendly resort, there are still many child-free activities for newlyweds to enjoy. We recommend watching the sun set over the ocean at the adults-only Kalokalo Lounge, of course with wine and tapas in hand.

Sheraton Denarau Villas/ Hilton Fiji Beach Resort and Spa

Both of these resorts are located on Denarau Island, a short 20-minute drive from Nadi Airport, perfect for couples super-keen to get their holiday started. Denarau Island is home to eight large resorts – here you will be pampered among the world’s most picturesque beaches.

The Sheraton Denarau Villas are set upon six acres of stunning beach frontage and striking lagoons. The resort’s standout attraction is the 750-metre lagoon pool – it’s a little piece of ‘tropical island bliss’ on your doorstep.

Guests are given unrestricted access to the facilities at sister resorts: Sheraton Fiji Resort and the Westin Denarau which means you and your partner can explore more than 12 bars and restaurants, six swimming pools, a day spa and a golf course. Though we have a feeling once you’re here, you won’t want to leave.

The big and beautiful Hilton Fiji Beach Resort and Spa is located on 2.5km of beach and boasts a state-of-the-art swimming complex with a whopping seven pools, two beach-front restaurants, a fitness centre and an award-winning spa. It gives guests the best of both world: sun, sea and sand along with that renowned Hilton opulence.

Treasure Island Resort

Unlike so many hotels and resorts with facile platitudes such as ‘paradise’, ‘sunny’ and so on in their names, this one is actually spot-on. As its name implies, this ‘treasure island’ is set within the breathtaking Mamanuca Island group, surrounded by sapphire waters and silken white sands.

Treasure Island Resort is the only resort on the island and encompasses the entire six hectares of land. It’s well off the beaten track and only accessible via the resort’s high-speed boat, seaplane or helicopter. Therefore, the island is private and secluded and its natural beauty remains intact.

It’s one of the very few places in Fiji where you can have a hands-on interaction with the endangered Hawksbill Turtle – feeding and preparing them for release. Many of the land-owning families on Treasure Island work at the resort, they’re generous with their expansive local knowledge and will treat you like one of their own.
