The Plantation Island Resort has implemented comprehensive mosquito control measures following recent reports of dengue fever in Fiji, resort officials announced.
The resort has implemented daily misting operations throughout the property, with different sections treated on a rotating schedule to ensure complete coverage. A dedicated staff member also conducts supplementary misting across the resort’s premises daily.
In addition to misting, resort staff regularly apply larvicide treatment to the resort’s standing water areas to prevent mosquito breeding. The neighboring Lomani Island Resort & Spa has enacted similar protocols, conducting misting twice daily and placing mosquito-buckets strategically throughout its grounds.
Resort management acknowledges that tropical destinations inherently carry health considerations, including mosquito-borne illnesses, which are not unique to Fiji. Guests are advised to take personal precautions, including regular application of mosquito repellent, particularly during early morning and late afternoon hours; wearing lightweight, long-sleeved clothing; using mosquito coils or plug-in repellents at night; and keeping doors and windows closed or properly screened.
The Plantation Island Resort remains committed to guest safety and will adjust protective measures based on emerging guidance, as conveyed by resort representatives. For additional information, feel free to call our South Pacific Specialists on 1800 991 751!
