The Palau Pacific Resort has laid the cornerstone for its upcoming Luuk Nature Centre, reinforcing Palau’s vision of becoming a leading ecotourism destination in Micronesia. Inspired by the Palauan phrase Lukel a Klengar (Nest of Life), ‘Luuk’ loosely translates to Biodiversity—a fitting name for this new conservation hub.

Luuk will connect to the resort’s fish pond, which is set for major upgrades, including a mangrove area, seagrass bed, and coral reef. The revamped pond will feature deeper, cooler zones for fish breeding and serve as a sanctuary for marine life. Additionally, the Nature Centre will rehabilitate injured marine animals, such as turtles, before releasing them back into the wild.

Inside, rich display panels will highlight the resort’s biodiversity, alongside exhibition walls, a lecture room, and a lounge. Initially planned for resort guests, the centre will also welcome local communities and schoolchildren down the line, fostering education and conservation awareness.

Construction is already in full swing, with the grand opening set for December 2025. While efforts are being made to minimize disruption, some noise may be noticeable. If you have concerns or want to book your stay for the launch, our South Pacific experts are happy to assist—call 1800 991 751!
