A true-blue private island resort, Vomo Fiji garners awards every year for its luxurious pampering, family favourite haunt and finds itself included in any and every Top 10 listicle on over-the-top beautiful islands, decadent villas and so on. Plus, its all-inclusive packages mean Vomo provides real value for money Fiji holidays. Here, we’ll do a deep dive into all the reasons which make couples and families keep coming back to Vomo Fiji ever so regularly.

Getting to Vomo Fiji

Walking on miles of perfect white sand beaches of Vomo Fiji

Some drop-dead beautiful resorts in the South Pacific require several flights, domestic hops, boat rides, wading through water and possibly prayers for good weather. Not here. After disembarking at the international airport at Nadi, guests can hop to the ferry which will drop them on the island’s jetty in 75 relaxing minutes. Or, they can take a water taxi or a speedboat which will drop them at Vomo in half the time. Or, there’s the rockstar approach where you can reach the island from the airport in 15 minutes on a seaplane or a chopper ride.

We say ‘#choices’!

Relaxing into Island Time!

Relaxing is precisely Vomo Fiji’s super power!

The Fijian private island resort consists of two islands, Vomo and a smaller island Vomo Lailai (which we’ll talk about in a bit). Spread over 255 acres, the main resort island has several silvery white sand beaches, jungles, walking trails, coves and is surrounded by crystal-clear waters of the Pacific.

In this piece of paradise, instead of covering the island with a high-rise hotel complex or bristling with bures, the resort deliberately limited its room capacity to just 36 accommodations. Each of the villas are spread out, guaranteeing peace and privacy. The plethora of activities and experiences that the island offers can always be pushed to tomorrow, leaving today for lazing by the beach with a champagne picnic and a good book.

Accommodations at Vomo Fiji

One of Vomo Fiji’s Residences

At Vomo Fiji, travellers can choose from three luxury villa accommodations and four private residence categories. Each of the categories have unique views of the island and the ocean, besides a beautiful meld of Fijian design elements and modern amenities. The Hillside Villas are excellent for romantic escapes, giving couples much-needed privacy. But they’re not that isolated – all resort amenities, restaurants and facilities are just a couple of minutes’ walk down the hill. With fantastic birds-eye view of the island and the blue waters beyond, these villas can accommodate up to 3 adults or a small family with two kids. Then there are the Beachfront Villas & Havens and the Beachfront Retreats – which are yes, located next to the beach (lucky guess!). The latter comes with its own outdoor deep-soaking bathtub, but both are excellent for couples and small families. Apart from the Havens, both Beachfront Villas and Retreats have interconnecting options to host mid-size groups and families.

Interiors of Vomo Fiji’s Beachfront Villa

All villas feature a choice of king-size beds and single beds in the main bedroom and pull-out divans in the living rooms. The ensuite bathrooms are spacious and luxuriously appointed with free-standing bathtubs, walk-in shower stalls, complimentary premium toiletries and twin wash basins with vanity mirrors. Common amenities include house slippers and bathrobes, a dressing area, air-conditioning and ceiling fans, hair dryer, WiFi and tea/coffee making facilities. Outside, all Vomo Fiji accommodation options include an over-sized patio with sun loungers and outdoor dining arrangements.

Then, there are the four Vomo Residences. Each of the residences are unique, ultra-luxurious and palatial even by five-star standards. The BeacHouse is a 3-bedroom affair set with fantastic views of the ocean, plus a 14-metre private infinity pool. The Royal is also a three-bedroom residence and it comes with a swimming pool, massive kitchen and living space. The Residence is absolutely beachfront and has jaw-dropping views of the ocean from its private infinity pool. Add on four king bedrooms, superb five-star ensuite bathrooms with deep soaking bathtubs, outdoor dining pavilion and Bose Bluetooth speakers for private parties. Then, there is the Palms – also a four-bedroom monster. Consisting of three connected pavilions and a massive swimming pool providing the ultimate half-in, half-out living experience, the Palms is Vomo Fiji’s latest addition to the Residence collection. All the Residences come with village butler service, luxurious living and sleeping arrangements, latest entertainment hubs, daily wash & fold service and a range of daily activities.

Living in style was never this effortless.

Activities & Experiences at Vomo Fiji

Golfing at Vomo Fiji

Mate, where do we start? For starters, as a private island resort, guests have access to miles of pearly white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters and colourful coral reefs… minus the crowds. There will never be crowds at Vomo, period. Take a pair of flippers and a snorkel and endless hours of snorkelling are yours. Or a kayak, hobie cat or a surfboard. Whatever strikes your fancy for the day.

Then, fishing enthusiasts would have a field day angling for giant trevally, Spanish mackerel, coral trout and more with a cold brew in hand. The waters off the outer reefs are rich in pelagic and demersal marine life – just sign up for a fishing charter and you’re good for the day! For more action-based watersports, the resort (and our South Pacific Specialists!) can fix up dive charters for divers to explore underwater caves and sites teeming with an amazing variety of marine flora and fauna. The resort’s dive centre is stocked with top-shelf aqualung BCDs, fins, dive computers and scuba-diving paraphernalia. The resort’s dive centre has tailored programmes for aspiring divers – and what training grounds to start diving! You can also ask the tour desk to sign you up for guided snorkelling trips where you can swim with manta rays.

A proper venue of fun and activities for the little ones!

All the above doesn’t mean it’s no fun on dry land. Quite the contrary, there’s even more to see, do and experience. Besides the expansive gym, the resort has a nine-hole pitch and putt golf course, floodlit tennis courts and several walking trails to explore the island. Plus, guests are encouraged to walk, jog or dash up the island’s mountain; it’s an easy 10-minute hike. Then, there are trips to Cloud 9 (Imagine a two-storey house on stilts in the middle of the ocean. Great live music, good food and beer – what a way to spend a day!), village visits, cultural tours and so on.

Vomo Lailai – the private island resort’s private island!

And if Vomo Fiji isn’t private enough for you, then the resort raises the stakes to Vomo Lailai. Yes, we said we’d come back to it. This is the private island resort’s even more private islet! A hop and a skip away by boat, this small patch of perfection can be yours for a day. The resort staff will pack you a champagne lunch hamper and drop you on the island with a two-way walkie talkie. Without the last item, it’s a bit hard getting back to civilisation… or order a second bottle of bubbly. Relax in your own private Eden, swim in its sparkling waters and soak in the privacy.

Plus, there are more bespoke experiences and daily-changing activities that we haven’t even touched upon – talk to our friendly South Pacific Specialists for a complete run-down.

Dining at Vomo Fiji

Vomo Fiji’s Rocks Restaurant

It won’t be proper if everything above were to be let down by the food. And it isn’t. The Vomo Fiji excels at epicurean adventures with a team of trained chefs led by Executive Chef Michael Fosbender and Chef de Cuisine Thushan. The Reef Restaurant is for all resort guests, while the Rocks Restaurant is adults-only. The menus at both the venues change daily, so even returning and long-stay guests can look forward to sampling something new every time! The resort also has separate menus for vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan travellers.
