Listen to Matthew Findlay To Take Reins as Solomon Airlines’ new CEO

Solomon Airlines has officially appointed Matthew Findlay as its Chief Executive Officer.

Findlay’s robust aviation experience includes senior positions at prominent carriers like Air New Zealand and Fiji Airways. His background in network development and operational efficiency is expected to be instrumental in navigating the modern travel landscape’s complexities. The Board of Directors has highlighted his proven track record in the Pacific region as a key factor in the appointment, noting that his leadership will be essential for the carrier’s long-term sustainability and fleet modernisation goals.

The airline’s Chairman Mr Frank Wickham announced the appointment, saying, “Matthew’s extensive experience and exposure to the challenges of Pacific aviation will enable Solomon Airlines under his leadership, to further solidify our operational aspirations and to realise enhanced growth opportunities.”

Under Findlay’s direction, the airline is expected to focus on strengthening its international routes, particularly those connecting Honiara to major hubs like Brisbane and Port Vila. As the ‘Hapi Isles’ continue to see rising interest from international markets, the airline is positioning itself to be a primary driver of the archipelago’s tourism and economic growth.

Findlay said, “The Solomon Islands and the broader Pacific region offer much untapped potential for tourism, trade and air connectivity between nations and larger global markets.” This leadership shift ensures that the foundational link between the Solomon Islands and the rest of the world remains strong, professional, and prepared for the next decade of Pacific aviation.
