For first-timers, Gizo is the third-largest city in the Solomon Islands and acts as Western Province’s tourism hub. With its vibrant waterfront market, friendly local community, and stunning surrounding islands, it has been a quiet favourite of scuba-diving enthusiasts and adventure travellers.
Keeping Gizo as launchpad, travellers can sample some of the world’s finest diving, diving amongst WWII wreck, snorkelling in crystal-clear waters and surfing adventures. The region’s volcanic landscapes, rich marine life, and laid-back charm make it the perfect place to relax and recharge. And now, with the opening of Zaru Hotel, visitors have even more accommodation options.
During the official opening, Minister Douglas highlighted how developments like Zaru Hotel are crucial for the country’s long-term tourism growth. This isn’t just about adding rooms, it’s about raising standards and creating opportunities, he said.
