But Wait, What and Where is the InterContinental Tahiti?

The InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa is a benchmark 5-star beachfront resort set on the island of Papeete in Tahiti. Spread over 62 acres of manicured gardens, powdery white sand beaches, swaying palm trees and bordering crystal-clear aquamarine waters of the Pacific Ocean, the resort is the gateway to bucket-list holidays, adventures and honeymoons! This beautiful resort sits next to the lagoon from where travellers can see the island of Moorea and its forest-covered volcanic peak in the distance. Simply epic!

The resort offers over 250 separate units of accommodation, ranging from Classic and Premium Rooms, one-bedroom suites and… overwater bungalows. The rooms are clustered in three groups; the Classic Rooms and Premium Rooms are set up in individual three-storey buildings, while the overwater suites are located on two private islets (or ‘motus’ as you’d say in Polynesian!) connected to the mainland by causeways.

Let’s get the common amenities out of the way. Every single accommodation features an ensuite bathroom, air-conditioning, an LCD TV, international direct-dial telephone, a mini bar (stocked upon request), 110V/220V outlets, complimentary WiFi, an iron and ironing board, a hairdryer, a private safe and coffee & tea-making facilities. This comes with the entry-level Classic Rooms… and we only get bigger and better from there.

Classic Rooms at the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa

The Classic Rooms are the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa’s entry-level accommodations, and they’re ever so good! The rooms sport soothing pearl and wood tones and offer guests the hotel chain’s legendary comfort and convenience on tap. At 26 sq metres, the cosy accommodation boasts of a choice of either a king-size bed or twin beds. The Classic Rooms come with island-casual sitting furniture, traditional wood furnishings, timber flooring, and an ensuite bathroom with shower and vanity mirrors. The room leads to a balcony outside with views of the resort’s gardens.

The Classic Rooms are available with a choice of views – guests can choose between rooms with balconies facing the ocean, the lagoon with the island of Moorea in the background, and the resort’s landscaped gardens. Since the Classic Rooms are housed in a three-storey complex, there are also accommodations with a bit of elevation – and pretty swell views of the ocean and the islands to wake up to!

Premium Rooms at the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa

Also called the Panoramic Rooms, these 60 units offer some of the best views in the resort, and definitely the best in the room categories. Set in their own complex, these larger rooms are spread over 38.5 sq metres, and a separate nine sq metre balcony/ patio. Overlooking the wide blue swathes of the Pacific Ocean, the powdery white sand beach bordering the resort and the swaying palm trees, each of these rooms offer a choice between a king-size bed or two queen beds. Other amenities include timber flooring, island-casual sitting furniture and a spacious ensuite bathroom featuring a his-and-her’s basins and backlit vanity mirrors and a large shower over bathtub. and an ensuite bathroom with shower and vanity mirrors. Oh, and some of these rooms have views of the resort’s gorgeous Lotus infinity pool.

Overwater Bungalow Moorea View

If this topic was a meal, then we’re starting the main course from here. The Overwater Bungalows Moorea View are located at the end of the resort’s pontoon, enjoying wide open scenic views and are therefore sought-after by couples, honeymooners, and families alike. These large bungalows offer a king-size bed and floor-to-ceiling windows with magical views of Moorea, its volcanic mountain and large swathes of cerulean waters to wake up to. The ensuite bathroom is spacious and features a his-and-her’s basins, backlit vanity mirrors and a large shower over bathtub. The separate living room come with inviting island-casual furniture and leads out to the deck. Outside, each bungalow has a large deck with sitting furniture – and the same pitch-perfect views.

Overwater Bungalow Ocean View

The Overwater Bungalows Ocean View are arranged near the resort’s infinity pool and the Lotus Restaurant. With scintillating views of the island of the ocean, these large bungalows offer a king-size bed, a luxurious ensuite bathroom with a bathtub, and a separate living room with island-casual furniture. Outside, each bungalow has a large, shaded deck with sitting furniture.

Overwater Bungalow Motu Suite

When you’ve these views to wake up to, the Motu Suite Overwater Bungalows definitely rank a five-star!

Also known as the Motu Suite Overwater Bungalows, these units offer the singular best views of the lagoon and the island of Moorea. These bungalows are set around the resort’s private islet, or ‘motu’ as the locals call it. Each of these spacious bungalows offer a king-size bed, a luxurious ensuite bathroom with a bathtub, and a separate living room with island-casual furniture. Outside, each bungalow has an oversized deck with sitting furniture. The Motu Suites are one of the most premium accommodation units in the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa’s inventory – but its best attribute, the views, are free!

Overwater Villa Moorea View

And all of this is overwater – nice!

The resort’s single Overwater Villas Moorea View is second in terms of sheer floor size, at 95 sq metres. But it makes up for it with its overwater setting, sublime views, and an oversized deck with wide open views of the lagoon and Moorea. The deck has sun-loungers and a shaded dining space – perfect for intimate dinners with the best views of the island! Inside, the overwater bungalow offers a king-size bed, a luxurious ensuite bathroom with a bathtub, and a separate living room with living room furniture and a glass-bottom coffee table.

One Bedroom Suite Moorea View (Antares)

Formerly known as the Antares Suite, the One Bedroom Suite Moorea View is located on the top floor of the premium rooms building. The suite floor-to-ceiling windows and has commanding views of the resort, the beach, the ocean and Moorea. The bedroom comes with a plus king-size bed, a luxurious ensuite bathroom with a separate shower and bathtub, and vanity mirrors. The living room has modern sitting and lounge furniture, work desk and a sofa bed.
