The southern-most island in the Mariana Islands archipelago, Guam is a bustling, colourful potluck of modernity and ancient Chamorro traditions. Going from north to south, Guam has two large villages (Dededo and Yigo), hiking trails, pretty beaches and the expansive Anderson Airforce Base. Going down, central Guam is a hub of upscale hotels, wide boulevards and high streets with top-notch brands for shopping. It is also home to loads of pubs, night clubs and lively community markets. South Guam ends with rolling hills, verdant forests and a volcanic range. Compared to the numerous white sand beaches lining the rest of the island, the black sand beach at Talofofo is a stark contrast.
Being a fully-developed, tourism-centric destination; Guam has scores of activities for one and all. There are relaxed activities like kayaking on its clean blue waters to snorkelling in the protected coral reefs to while the sunny days away. Mildly strenuous activities include hiking to the peak of Mount Lamlam, where it’s true to say that you’ve scaled the highest mountain in the world (if measuring from the bottom of the Mariana Trench!). Scuba-diving in Guam’s warm waters is a sublime pleasure – where else can divers touch a wreck from World War I with one hand and a wreck from WWII with the other? There are many wrecks of military and merchant vessels from the wars around Guam which are now havens for marine life. The ‘Fish Eye’ site off Apra Harbour is a marine conservation site and divers can find themselves surrounded by over 200 species of fish, while Finger Reef is an excellent site for poring over beautiful coral formations. In the evenings, the Chamorro night market is a colourful, bustling area full of souvenirs and local food stalls travellers should not miss.

The Outrigger Guam is a deluxe beachfront resort, perfectly positioned with beach-facing villas and suites; while the Fiesta Resort, Guam offers families and couples extensive suite options to choose from, besides being located right next to the waterfront.
