About Anchorage Resort

The resort also has a large heated outdoor pool as well as a separate kids’ pool. But there’s plenty to do in Taupo beyond lazing at the pool! A visit to Taupo is not complete without a trip out on the lake – take a cruise or kayak tour and visit the Maori rock carvings, or try your hand at trout fishing. Another must-see in Taupo is the spectacular Huka Falls. They are free to visit, but if you want to get up closer take a jet boat ride or river cruise to the base of the falls. We also recommend the walk along river to Spa Park, and a soak in the natural hot springs that run out into the river.

There are a large number of walking and cycling trails in Taupo township and the surrounding area, ranging from a stroll in the botanical gardens to mountain biking the Great Lake Cycle Trail.
