The hotel’s gourmet restaurant, Bazaar, has stunning views of the mountains and the lake, while treating guests with a blend of international and fusion cuisines. Then, the Reds Bar continues the QT Queenstown’s line of elegant blend of style and natural beauty. With the Remarkable in the background, the bar serves up a whole host of cocktails and liquors – it’s Negronis are of particular note. Both the Bazaar and the Reds have been highlighted worldwide (NYT, anyone?) and are worth a dekko.
In terms of activities and experiences, Queenstown has enough to line up an itinerary for weeks. For starters, it is the home of bungee-jumping – the first site ever was set up here way back in 1988. Then, race over to the meandering Spotover river for a heart-pounding jetboat experience or a ripping sled luge ride down the mountains. For toned-down, relaxed mode experiences, we’d recommend going for a hot tub experience at the Onsen Hot Pools with a view of the mountains and the Shotover. Then, there are hiking trails all over Queenstown, perfect for a picnic day. Self-drive travellers can trundle over to Arrowtown, New Zealand’s gold rush town and sign up for day-tours.
First timers, ahoy – we’ve got a little beginner’s blog on Top 10 Things to See, Do, Eat and Experience in Queenstown! Repeat travellers, don’t you think that we’ve forgotten about you, oh no. Have you thought about a Self-Drive Adventure in South Island? You can even daisy-chain it, continuing up to North Island and its adventures on a bespoke holiday.
