The Yatule Resort and Spa bills itself as the ideal couples getaway in Fiji, and it’s not hard to see why. For starters, the resort is a stone’s throw from the famed Natadola beach, with many a bure directly opening up to the pristine white sands. There’s serenity to soak in, a multitude of dishes to sample and massage therapies to unwind to. Then there are physical and cultural activities to participate in, but more on that later.
Accommodations at the Yatule Resort are spread across eight categories of modern bures and stately villas. Guests have a choice of Pool View Bures, Beachfront Bures and Ocean View Bures. The Beachfront and Ocean views also offer Deluxe variants, which are a tad more spacious than their regular counterparts. These rooms are ideal for couples, but that doesn’t mean families need to give the Yatule Resort Fiji a pass. The Family Bure (two interconnected Pool view Bure) and the Executive three-bedroom villa are apt for large groups like families and friends on a Fiji holiday.
For additional information on room types and amenities, please refer to the ‘Rooms at the Yatule Resort and Spa’ section above.
Holidaymakers at the Yatule embark on a culinary journey at NA’UA Restaurant, where Western, Asian, and authentic Indian Tandoori dishes are crafted to perfection. Enjoy them a la carte with enchanting views of the South Pacific Ocean. For a unique experience, head to the Yuhi Robata Grill, which presents traditional Robatayaki cuisine that blends Japanese techniques with Pacific flavors. Post meals, unwind at the Breakers Bar with handcrafted cocktails or sample a wide range of choicest spirits, and local and international cold brews.
There’s never a boring day at the Yatule on Natadola beach. For starters, guests can run for the waters to swim and snorkel. It’s clear, calm and teeming with aquatic life, especially in the coral colonies. Plus, beginner-friendly dive sites like the Legend of Navo and the Lion’s Den are all nearby and can be reached by boat in under 10 minutes. Then, there’s the usual paddle boating, kitesurfing, kayaking and splashing about in the resort’s pool.
Back on dry land, guests can work up a sweat with volleyball, football and dance lessons or engage in lighthearted activities like hermit crab races and coconut challenge (here, the objective is to hit objects on the ground with a coconut suspended from the player’s waist). Bushwalk is another popular activity with tourists, especially from Australia. There are also more muted activities like lessons in Fijian phrases and Fijian basket weaving. And then, there’s horse riding on Natadola beach as the sun sets on the horizon!
On the cultural side of things, travellers to Natadola can see the nearby Hindu temples. They can extend the trip with visits to the botanical garden and the art market, perfect for browsing keepsakes and trinkets. A village tour is highly recommended as it allows visitors to get a first-hand view of a way of life that has largely retained its roots despite modern advancements. Kava ceremonies are common when tourists visit villages, and the curious reader might want to check out why Kava is South Pacific’s alt-bev. Kids and young adults might better appreciate a day spent at the mangrove conservation planting saplings, and the joy of witnessing a turtle egg hatch at the turtle breeding sanctuary.
Golf lovers can tee off just minutes from the resort at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course – a stunning par-72 course known for its breathtaking views of the Pacific. With club and caddy rentals available, guests can enjoy a round at their leisure and then retire to an open-air bar cum restaurant within the premises.
Good times at the Yatule extend long after the last light has faded. For starters, guests get to experience the famous Fire Show. It’s a blazing dance routine, one that combines dazzling firelight with fluid movements. Then, there’s the immersive Meke performances. Experience Fiji through colourful costumes, impressive performances and immersive storytelling that adds a touch of heritage to a Fiji holiday.
While some evenings may be exciting, like the one above, others are relaxing. Local bands serenade with live music as guests unwind to classic tunes or tap to Fijian numbers. Whatever the case, guests are guaranteed a good time.
Yatule Resort and Spa is a preferred choice for destination weddings. Clue: most of the bures here are meant for two. Not only do couples get to say ‘I do’ on one of Fiji’s most picturesque beaches, but they also get to jumpstart their honeymoon.
