The resort amps up the dining from fine to inimitable under the innovative stewardship of an on-site executive chef. The cuisines range from Fijian to Asian and continental while the wine list is enviable by anyone’s measure. The restaurant overlooking the Savusavu Bay provides for a great ambience, with its stained timber beams and great sunset views.
Diving is one of the resort’s biggest attractions and it is probably the only one in the world with a resident marine biologist and a protected marine reserve next door. Interesting fact: Jean-Michel Costeau helped protect the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument, making the entire 360,000 km2 area one of the biggest sanctuaries in the world, slightly bigger than Germany! Guests can sign up for learning how to dive at the Costeau Dive Centre and experienced divers can revel in the sights of the Namena Marine Reserve. There are day and night snorkelling trips with dive masters to explore the island’s endemic species and bioluminescent coral formations, which is something almost unique to Savusavu.
