One of the reasons why the Tanoa Tusitala Hotel gets repeat visitors is because of its location. The others are great service, menu and … there’s plenty, and we’re getting sidetracked. The water’s edge is just a hop and a skip away, and we don’t mean the hotel’s fabulous pool! But if you want to check out the real, picture-perfect beaches in Samoa, then you need to ask a tour operator, taxi service or take the public bus to the Aleipata & Lalomanu districts. Then, the hotel concierge is great for setting you up with snorkels, flippers and the like – you’re good to spend days snorkelling the crystal-clear waters off Apia. Check your local island calendar – if you’re in luck, there’s always a hiking trek, island triathlon or run scheduled in a week. It’s a great way to get to know the locale as well as the locals.
Ok, then what? Right, the To Sua Ocean Trench. If you’re booking a Samoa holiday without know about To Sua, then congratulations – here’s one of the reasons why Samoa got famous. Read about it in out blog; when there’s a sunshine after a good spell of rain, the Trench is so beautiful, it’s almost surreal. There’s also the Piula cave pools, the Papase’ea Sliding Rocks, swimming, snorkelling and scuba-diving in the Palolo Deep marine reserve, and more water-based activities. For first-timers as well as repeat visitors, we’d recommend signing up for an evening of cultural entertainment – something like a Fia Fia night, where guests are treated to an evening of story-telling via energetic song and dance, followed by a buffet dinner highlighted by an earthen oven – ‘umu’ cookout. It’s a feast for all senses, really. All the above are eminently family-friendly activities, too. Oh wait, you’re a return traveller and need something beyond the Samoa Travel Guide – what to expect, when to visit and so on? We love it – check out our blog on 10 (Different) Things to do on a Samoa Holiday. Experienced Samoa-ficionado? Did you know about the little cave-pool inside Upolu’s Theological College? No? The hotel’s Fala Restaurant is the place to go for breakfast – it’s ready to welcome visitors as early as 6:30am and goes on till 10:30am. Guests can tank up on continental and hot buffet breakfast, and get ready to move out for a day of fun and adventure. Hey, breakfast like a champion – that’s why our Samoa holiday deals always have transfers and breakfast included! For all-day dining and bar, the Deck Restaurant has a varied menu that showcases local island cuisine as well as international favourites. The restaurant, and bar, is located poolside and has a daily happy hours slot – it’s a great way to meet fellow guests and locals. And if you’re really soaking in the Samoa island holiday mood, there’s nothing like ordering room service and sleeping in!
