About Matangi Private Island Resort

A secluded volcanic island shaped like a horse-shoe, Matangi Private Island Resort stretches over 240 acres of forested hills, valleys and beaches. But despite its expanse, its inventory is limited to just 12 villas, making Matangi one of the best adults-only escapes in Fiji.

Fiji is just three and half hours from Brisbane, Australia. From the Nadi International Airport, travellers will have to take a connecting domestic flight to Taveuni in Vanua Levu. A cab ride to the local jetty and a quick 15-minute boat transfer will see holiday-makers set their feet on the soft white sands of Matangi Island. The beautiful seascape of Fiji and its islands makes the hopping more than bearable, though.

Once at the Matangi Resort, the warm and friendly Fijian staff greet travellers with flower leis before a tour of the facilities and accommodation. The resort’s split-level Treehouses have been featured on the Travel Channel for their traditional Fijian interiors, while the Oceanview and Beachfront Bures are as large as they are lavish. For friends and families travelling together, there is also the Two-Bedroom Bure.
