Guests can choose from three accommodation types at the lodge. The 11 self-contained apartments are all air-conditioned and boast of a panoramic view of the ocean. The Seafront Studios feature a king-size bed and a sofa bed, ensuite bathroom and the folding door offers great views of the bay. The Seaview 2-Bedroom Apartment includes a queen-sized bed in the master bedroom and two singles in the adjoining bedroom. The Seaview Penthouse is located on the top floor and offers the best views, naturally. The bedding is similar to the two-bedroom unit, addition to a convertible sofa-bed in the spacious living room. The luxury apartment also offers rosewood floors, a sound system and a 55-inch smart TV.
Common in-room amenities at the Fatumaru Lodge include a kitchenette (the Seaview Luxury Apartment has a fully-equipped kitchen), ceiling fans, teakwood furniture, hot plate, microwave, tea & coffee facilities, room safe, free WiFi, satellite TV and a private terrace. The lodge also offers daily housekeeping, breakfast service, babysitting, guest laundry and baby cots/cribs/ high chairs for families with babies and children.
There is a whole host of fun activities and experiences that travellers can sign up for in and around Fatumaru Lodge. First off, paddle-boarding and kayaking are excellent ways to explore the Fatumaru Bay. In fact, morning swims is the binge-worthy thing to do here. Then, the activities desk can set you up with scuba-dive charters – don’t worry, if you’re not PADI-certified, learning how to dive is easy and exciting. Vanuatu has some of the biggest and the baddest scuba-diving and wreck-diving hotspots; for example, the Million Dollar Point, the wreck of SS Coolidge, the Star of Russia and more! Fishing enthusiasts will rave about the quality of wahoo and marlins on every trip, too.
On land, we’d straight up recommend taking a few days out and visiting Pentecost island to attend the Naghol land-diving ceremony and signing up for a tour of the volcano on Tanna island. Yes, the latter’s a live, rumbling, lava-spouting volcano. For culture hounds, a village visit is a must, just ask the tour desk for good spots.
