Moorea, The Islands of Tahiti
For all travellers who are looking for adventure and luxury in an unspoilt tropical paradise in French Polynesia, the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort and Spa is the destination to head for.
Located between Cook’s Bay and Opunohu Bay in the heart-shaped Moorea, the resort sits pretty with the massive Mount Rotui in the background. Despite its seclusion, reaching the resort is a piece of cake. Moorea is but a ten-minute flight from the Papeete airport; once there it is another 10-minute cab ride from Moorea’s airport.
The Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort and Spa offers travellers bungalows which harmoniously mix luxurious settings with pristine surroundings – they are set in three distinct groups; amongst the resort’s gardens, along the beach and on the crystal-clear lagoon. Each of the rooms and bungalows are fitted out with the Hilton’s usual attention to detail, from the super-comfortable king-size beds, spacious bathrooms with premium toiletries and sun-decks/patios. Some of the room and bungalow options have private plunge pools for the guests’ exclusive use.
In terms of activities and experiences, the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort and Spa and Moorea itself are unbeatable. Its glassy waters are perfect for swimming and snorkelling, the coral reefs alive and kaleidoscopic with tropical fish. Further out, diving and fishing charters can be easily arranged for enthusiasts; just mention it to our South Pacific Specialists. Moorea’s diverse ecology also makes it heaven for nature lovers and hikers. Adventure sports lovers also have great options with windsurfing, water-skiing, powerboat rides and jet-ski safaris.
The resort also pampers its guests with a range of dining options. The main restaurant Arii Vahine is situated next to the lagoon and woos travellers with Polynesian and international cuisines, while a choice of three bars keeps evenings mellow and happening. Besides these, a romantic dinner for two under the stars is just a wish away!

This beautiful resort is set on the island of Moorea, one of Tahiti’s many such gems. It’s a short 15 min flight away, but travellers also prefer taking the ferry. The latter winds its way around the crystal-clear lagoons and reaches Moorea in less than an hour. Of course, you can always charter a private speedboat – the adrenaline rush is simply amazing!
There are two ways to reach the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa. After landing at Tahiti’s Fa’a airport, go to the domestic terminal and take a short hop on a plane to the Moorea Airport. Secondly, take a cab to the ferry terminus – there is a daily scheduled ferry service connecting all the important islands to Papeete.
Plenty to keep travellers engaged and happy for weeks – check out our Things to do tab where we’ve listed a few of our absolute favourites (such as snorkelling in the lagoon’s crystal-clear waters, kayaking, mountain hiking, adventure sports, 4×4 safaris… you get the idea!)
