Taha’a is one of the true examples of a botanical wonderland. On this island, eco-travellers can wander through vast farms of potent, sweet-smelling vanilla and groves of coconuts, bananas and watermelons. Snorkelling and diving also reach rarified levels of perfection, with its underwater coral gardens and shoals of multicoloured fish.
Couples will find Taha’a a haven of peace and privacy. It’s uncluttered, white sand beaches, winding nature trails and picturesque bungalows will strike a chord with any romantic.
The lagoon of Taha’a is fed by fast South Pacific current, lending to breath-taking drift dives where travellers can come face to face with sharks, dolphins, turtles and regal eagle rays. Just drop a line to our travel experts and we’ll arrange dive charters that will make your Taha’a holiday rank in all-time best getaways.
Taha’a is a series of sensory delights – plain and simple. Wherever you may be on the entire 90 sq kilometres of the small island, there will be a faint aroma of rich vanilla wafting through. Being entirely enclosed by a single continuous coral reef, the only entry is via the neighbouring island of Raiatea. From the Fa’a International Airport, a plane brings travellers to Raiatea, from where a 35-minute speedboat ride takes them across an expanse of the beautiful lagoon to Taha’a.
The fertile island produces over 80% of French Polynesia’s famous vanilla from millions of vanilla orchids, lending to the sweet aroma pervading Taha’a. Buying vanilla beans is an excellent souvenir option here, as are the pearls. This island has some of the best pearls, ranging from pale ivory, blushing pink all the way to inky black. Beyond exclusive souvenirs, the vast enclosed lagoon is home to a number of great drift dives. Scuba divers will find fantastic diving amongst shoals of colourful fishes and pristine coral formations. The fast currents lead to exceptional clarity underwater and the wrecks and caverns provide visitors with endless hours of fun and frolic.
The two main resorts of Taha’a are both located on their own private islands and range from high-end luxury to simple and charming.
