Crusoe's Retreat

This three-star adults-only beachfront resort is set on Fiji’s beautiful Coral Coast, close to Pacific Harbour. With comfortable villas next to the beach, great dining and plenty of activities, Crusoe’s Retreat is perfect for travellers looking to experience authentic Fijian getaway.

The two-hour drive from Fiji’s Nadi International Airport takes travellers on a road-trip down the winding Coral Coast; it’s a series of staggering vistas, with craggy mountains on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other.

The resort is located close to a Fijian village (and visitors are encouraged to visit and experience the traditional, relaxed way of life). Once reached, Crusoe’s Retreat offers travellers just 28 Fijian-inspired villas, called ‘bures’, in four categories. All of the bures are set either in the resort’s lush tropical gardens, next to the beach or just a few metres away from the tranquil lagoon’s blue waters. They also feature hardwood floors, woven ‘rattan’ walls and ensuite bathrooms.

Crusoe’s Retreat also prides itself on its fresh island dining options. It features several buffets a week, the Fijian ‘lovo’ or underground oven buffets should not be missed! There are also a la carte or meal plan options for travellers for lunch and dinner. The resort prides itself on the freshness of the tabled delicacies – whether it is the produce or the fish! Besides the above, romantic candle-lit dinners by the water’s edge or private dining is just a request away. The Taki Beach Bar also offers happy hours in the afternoons and evenings.

All said and done, the resort’s best quality is the scores of activities in and around the location. From snorkelling and swimming in its pristine waters to sundry excursions and tours, there is just so much to do. Crusoe’s Retreat has its very own PADI diving centre to teach newbies the finer points of scuba-diving and organises several charters to explore Fiji’s amazing marine biodiversity and beauty. There are plenty of Fijian cultural activities like cooking and weaving classes; guided village tours and bush hikes – the village is just a minute’s walk from the resort and other activities.
